The excitation device is designed for the excitation and monitoring of the vehicle electrical system generator.
It draws excitation energy from the 24 V battery of the vehicle electrical system and supplies excitation current to the brushless generator. The device switches between different excitation characteristics for drive and brake modes. The device operating modes are controlled via the CAN bus by the vehicle's central computer.
Features
| Operating voltage | 24 V AC |
- Setpoint transfer via CAN bus interface
- Speed-dependent excitation current
Operation
Operation is via the CAN bus through the locomotive's higher-level central computer. Voltage regulation is based on a speed-voltage characteristic curve stored in the controller memory.
