charging infrastructure
F&S inverters in charging stations for battery-electric trains: These core systems for a sustainable infrastructure are proving their worth.
March 2025
On June 6, we had a reason to celebrate together with Rail Power Systems GmbH. After officially joining the Rail.S network this year, we recently received the Set4Future Innovation Award for our latest project – the BCS XX50 charging substation for battery-powered locomotives.
The initial operational experience with these pilot facilities for Deutsche Bahn has been very positive. Since May 2024, the Heide charging substation – the first of the facilities built in collaboration with our partner RPS – has been reliably charging commuter trains to ensure convenient regional connectivity. Since October, the Husum charging substation and, since the end of 2024, the Tönning charging substation have been supplying power to the quiet, battery-electric trains that are replacing the generation of diesel-powered railcars.
Once again, our systems meet the high standards of quality and reliability required for critical infrastructure. Our goal is to consistently achieve long-term customer satisfaction.
We are pleased to contribute to sustainable mobility by providing these innovative and high-performance solutions.

The performance of the charging substations relies heavily on our voltage intermediate circuit converters, which ensure an optimal power supply through precise control and high dynamics.
