F&S Wins Set4Future Innovation Award for innovative charging station

A key feature of this charging station for battery-electric trains is the use of a balancing converter in the railway power supply. By using these inverters in charging substations, we are expanding the range of applications for our existing TIBS® inverter series.
Compared to previous solutions, the new charging substation stands out for its higher efficiency. Thanks to its containerized design, the station can be set up on-site more quickly. In addition, routes that were previously operated with diesel can be electrified much faster. With this innovation, we are setting a new standard in railway power supply together with Rail Power Systems GmbH and making a decisive contribution to a sustainable and environmentally friendly future in transportation.

The new technology has already been successfully tested under industrial and real-world operating conditions and has met all requirements. The system is therefore ready for deployment and is currently being prepared for professional operation.

The entire pilot operation was prepared and carried out as part of a collaboration with Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen GmbH, DB Energie GmbH, DB RegioNetz Infrastruktur GmbH Erzgebirgsbahn, Smart Rail Connectivity Campus gGmbH, and the Chair of Electrical Railways at the Technical University of Dresden.
