DigiTechNetz research project

January 2023

is the abbreviation for the research project "Digitalization Technologies for the Operation of Low-Voltage Networks".

Coordinated by the Chair of Electrical Power Supply and the Chair of Energy Economics at TU Dresden, F&S PROZESSAUTOMATION GmbH has joined forces with SachsenNetze GmbH, SachsenNetze HS.HD GmbH, Robotron Datenbanken-Software GmbH, DigSILENT GmbH, and emsys grid services GmbH as part of a collaborative project to develop forward-looking solutions for the transformation requirements at the low-voltage grid level resulting from the energy transition.

The project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, has a total budget of €4.7 million. With the goal of developing concepts for future operational management and integrating them into the operational management of low-voltage grids following field testing, the project partners hope to make a fundamental contribution to the digitalization and implementation of the energy transition. An important component of the planned tools for the functionally expandable service platform for reliable operational management is the development of a congestion management system that prevents critical grid situations from occurring. A fundamental prerequisite for this is real-time monitoring of the grid status, which is significantly influenced by the increasing integration of so-called renewable energies, electric vehicles, and heat pumps.
