Work Begins on Expanding the Generator Outlet for the Power Plant
June 2021
Now that the planning phase of GTHKW Halle is complete, the next crucial step in the project begins: the fabrication of the control cabinet. The enclosure for the generator control cabinet has arrived at the E&A site and will serve as the basis for the electrical installation.
Start of the electrical upgrade
With the delivery of the cabinet housing, the integration of the electrical components begins. Already visible is the slide for the new generator circuit breaker, which will play a central role in the plant’s structure in the future.
As part of the expansion, approximately 1.5 tons of copper will be used in the form of busbars – a clear indicator of the plant’s high performance requirements in the 11.5 kV and 60 MW range.
Project progress in context
With the start of the electrical expansion, the retrofit of the generator output is proceeding according to plan. Building on the previously developed concept and the mechanical reengineering, the foundation is now being laid for the subsequent testing, commissioning, and reassembly at the power plant.
