Phase 3 successfully completed – Start of construction planning
August 2020
As part of a planning project, E&A has successfully completed Service Phase 3 (preliminary design). The project involves replacing existing 6- and 30-kV switchgear in a switchgear building for electrolysis systems. The preliminary design was thoroughly reviewed and officially approved by the client – an important milestone for the project’s continued progress.
During the conceptual design phase, E&A conducted a detailed analysis of all technical, operational, and spatial requirements and translated them into a robust planning concept. This included, among other things, an assessment of the existing infrastructure, the definition of the future system architecture, and the consideration of conversion and migration scenarios during ongoing operations.
Based on these results, E&A has now been commissioned with the subsequent construction planning (Service Phase 5) as well as the preparation of the bill of quantities. The company will thus play a central role in the further implementation of the project—from detailed technical development to the preparation of the contract award.
A key component of our past and future planning services is model-based design: A comprehensive 3D model was developed for the switchgear room, realistically depicting both the existing switchgear and the new components to be installed. In addition, all relevant site conditions were integrated, allowing interfaces, space constraints, and installation procedures to be analyzed and optimized at an early stage. This enables precise planning of the phased renewal during ongoing operations and minimizes potential risks during the implementation phase.
With the detailed design phase now beginning, the focus is on further refining all technical solutions, preparing production-ready documentation, and defining clear scope of work for the tender. E&A’s goal is to successfully complete the detailed design phase by the end of 2020, thereby laying the groundwork for the project’s smooth implementation.
E&A provides its planning services both as independent engineering consulting and in accordance with the service phases outlined in the HOAI. This allows clients to benefit from maximum flexibility in project management while adhering to established standards and clearly defined service specifications.
